    Built during the first term of President George Washington from funds disbursed by Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, Portland Head Light was the first lighthouse to be lighted by the federal government and received Washington's personal attention. He ordered that it be constructed of rubblestone taken from the fields and shores of Cape Elizabeth and stated that the stone could be "handled nicely when hauled by oxen on a drag." Although altered in height, it has never been rebuilt. It attracts more than 60,000 visitors a year and is perhaps the best known and most photographed lighthouse on the northeast coast.

    Our Paper

    Our Enhanced Matte Art (EMA) substrate is a premium-quality heavyweight paper with a gently textured surface. This 200gsm museum quality paper is sourced exclusively from Hahnemühle, the world’s most famous papermaker and supplied directly to our print labs. Our print process provides exceptional tonality and renders sharp details with consistency.

    Our Mats

    For the matted / mounted prints we use a thick 1.4mm window mount cut from premium, textured mountboard. All mounts are "conservation grade", FSC certified, 100% acid free, and will not discolour or fade with age.

    Printing and Shipping (COVID)

    Print only products (no frames) are being delivered on average within 5-7 calendar days of payment. 

    Framed products are being delivered on average within 7-10 calendar days of payment. 

    Each product is still hand made at the time of order.
